Silver The Hedgehog- Gameplay mechanics

EDIT: From Skype:

[01:49:15] Sorcerer Lance: it sounds overly-complex
[01:49:48] Sorcerer Lance: to make a good game, you need to focus on the gameplay, worry about the story afterward and then the graphics... that's pretty much the tier system to making a good game
[01:50:18] The KKM: but I didn't really worry about the story here
[01:50:25] The KKM: the story I devised after thinking the gameplay
[01:51:01] The KKM: the gameplay is simple- move through levels in a Sonic cd-esque fashion in which your options affect how the next levels will be- good future, bad future, etc.
[01:51:13] The KKM: your objective is to be neutral, not good nor bad
[01:51:36] The KKM: in a 2d plane, use your pk powers to do things such as hovering and throwing your enemies over themelves

The KKM Experience: I wish I had the know-how to do the Silver fangame I thought of
involving time travel and PK
the way I envisioned this, it would be for DS, since you'd use the stylus for PK
basically, Silver is in his future, now a cadet for the time police
a villain decides to do damage to Sonic's timeline for some reason
so Silver has to stop him
as the villain is time-travelling, you need to follow a certain timeline to catch him- from level 1 to 5
but this is where the game would get fun

think of Shadow's mission system
depending on how you performed on a level, you may (and likely will) inadvertandly create a new timeline
meaning you'd then have to return to the point where you branched- a literal return in the sense that the layouts for the levels you would be repeating would be mirrowed
*mirrored
so basically you'd have two ways to play the game- try and do the main timeline as quickly as possible and catch the bad guy
or mess around, multiply the levels, go back and forth, and gain new abilities
ah, the game is 2d, btw
during the levels, you'd be able to (notice this was before generations was announced) revisit moments from past Sonic games
and even alter them
for an example, by stopping GUN from attacking the ARK- causing a new timeline where Shadow is a good guy, sort of a Sonic CD good future line, where Eggman is no villain
but it's wrong, so you'd have to return and get GUN to do their job in the ARK

this was pretty much it
as for villains, etc. never thought it much
I think it could be a fun game, though
